PASTORAL CARE

THE PASTORAL CARE OF THE INDIVIDUAL STUDENT IS OF PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE TO US.

At St Malachy’s we aim to promote the physical, academic, social, moral and spiritual development of all our students and in doing so bring about self-discipline to help each student grow and develop into mature, well rounded individuals fully equipped to take their place in society.

Our staff seek to support each student individually and to develop their talents. Each student is at the core of what we are about as an educational community. A special induction programme for Year 8 students has been designed to assist with settling the students quickly and easily to become a valued member of our school community. Specially trained Sixth Form Mentors make a significant contribution to this induction programme.

THE PASTORAL CARE WITHIN ST MALACHY’S IS UNDERPINNED BY THE FOLLOWING STRANDS:

  • We have three clear school rules: Be Ready, Be Respectful, Be Safe. When our students go ‘Over & Above’ these expectations they will be recognised, rewarded & celebrated.

  • The best pastoral care we can provide for our students is effective Learning and Teaching in order to ensure that each student achieves their academic and holistic potential

  • We continually strive to ensure that our school community is safeguarded at all times through raising awareness, instilling protocols and being proactive.

  • St Malachy’s is one big family and we pride ourselves on working together as a team in order to achieve successful student outcomes for over 60 years.

  • We work very closely with a range of outside agencies who play a key role in the pastoral development of our students.

  • Our whole school community is built upon restorative relationships. We strive every day to create a positive learning environment for students to learn and staff to work.

  • Full attendance and punctuality are expected. These are essential for success at school and important habits to cultivate for the world of work.
